New vehicle search

Well, it is confirmed. We contacted our insurance company and was informed that the Acura was a write off. They are going to pay us out for the car but now we have to search for a new/used car. What a hassle! Now we have to spend more money!

We've been kinda looking at new cars, maybe thinking along the lines of a new Mazda CX-7 or Nissan X-Trail, or we can go used and buy something as well. We will have to see! If anyone knows of any great deals out there, let us know!

When It Rains, It Pours Part 2

Well, it's Thursday evening at about 10:30pm and we finally finish slopping out the HUGE puddle we had at the side of our house. It took the 2 of us in sandals, rain jackets and buckets to get that "puddle" down to the minimum. Wackie had to get onto the roof to gut out the gutters and it appears our eavesdrops just pools water in it. Then as I was checking our basement for leaks, it first appeared to be okay, until I saw another big puddle. Yep, our basement leaks! I mopped up 2 gallons of water in our future office space and place markings on all the nail holes that are leaking and the cracks that need re-sealing. Right now, Wackie is sealing those nail holes. We quickly called our contractor and guess what?!? He has 8 inches of water in his basement! Sigh... the joys of buying an old house in an old neighborhood.
All I can say is, thank goodness we are seeing all this now and not when all our walls and carpet are in.
Please stop raining!!!!

When It Rains, It Pours

man, is this rain terrible or what...okay, I'm not complaining that there is rain, because it sure saves on the water bill but it seems to rain a whole lot when you are trying to get some house work done.

For example, we have our shingles picked out and they are on our roof ready to be put on. They've been thre since Friday but I was told that they would be installed on Tuesday. Of course the rain has backed everything up and they could not make it on Tuesday. Now I was told they would be here Thursday, and guess what, it's raining! And to top things off, it's raining pretty hard so that our unevenly sloped eavestrough hold water and it overfloweth, causing a nice big puddle by the side of our house.

Just hoping for a few days of sunshine...

My Baby...It's in the Hospital!

Well, I can't say that this has been a great day for me. In fact, my day so far is the same as the weather outside. Dark, gloomy and miserable!
It all started this morning as I did my usual drive to work. Problem is that I never did make it to work. 2 blocks from my work, I got into a big collision. As I got to the intersection, it turned yellow, as I was clearing it, a huge black truck turned left. I hit the brakes, but no use, it hit me with enough impact that I hit the car next to me. Yep, a 3 car collision. I was able to move my car forward so that I can finish clearing the intersection and blocked 1 lane of traffic. So far, no one is hurt. Thank goodness there was a EMS behind me, they gave me their info so that I could use them as witnesses. Sadly, of course our reports are different. Our insurance companies will battle it out. This has left me pretty shaken up. My car had to be towed, my front bumper is gone, the side of my car pretty banged up. You can't close the driver's side door. My baby... it's in the hospital.
Thankfully, my parents were able to meet me at the scene. They pretty much took me home, took me out to eat and then to the rental company. It's was pretty scary driving back home with the rental. I could feel my adrenaline going as my legs shook driving. But I better keep driving or else I never will.
Funny thing, the guy was on probationary driver's license. I think this will hurt him more than me. All I can say is, thank goodness no one was hurt.
One good thing out of all of this, I got to see 2 ambulances and 4 squad cars. That's a lot of attention! Ha ha.
I'll see you next in my bright red Colbolt. It drives nothing like my baby. I already miss her...

New Beginnings...What an Adventure

Well, today I went to our friend's bridal shower at Vanilla Con's place. It's always fun to watch the excitement of brides as they prepare for their wedding and their next chapter of their lives. It made me realize today that this fall, Wackie and I will be celebrating our 2nd Anniversary. It amazes me how incredibly fast our marriage life has been. It doesn't feel like we have been married that long already, but it is. Wow.
As we celebrated her upcoming wedding playing silly bridal shower games, it made me think about when we were planning our wedding. We had 6 months to plan our wedding and even though it went fast, we managed to plan it all. I remember the stress, the arguments with parents, the busyness of all different appointments, fittings and such and yet looking back, it was all for one single day. Wow, that's a lot of stress that I could of lived without. Ha ha, don't get me wrong, it was still worth it to finally walk down that aisle knowing that on the way back, I would become Mrs. Wackie.
I wonder what our next step will be...
P.S. For all those planning on getting married, here's my advice: ELOPE!!!!

Off With it's Head!

Well, there is good news and bad news...
We hired these tree remover guys to come over to cut down and grind out our very large spruce tree in our backyard the other day. Well, they did come over and chop the tree off, but they also beheaded my brand new burning bush that we got couple days before! How it all happened? Apparently when they cut the tree, the guy didn't estimate it well enough that when it came crashing down, the tree landed on all my new plants that were sitting by my house waiting to find their new home. The tree completely cracked the burning bush's head right off and left it only with it's stump. Then it also chopped up my new orange hock...something, but I think I can savage that guy. But man, I bought this bush just because he was the most healthy looking and was getting ready to bloom. Now, it's half it's size and looks very very sickly. The fallen tree also managed to squish some of my perennials like my 2 ornamental poppies that I'll see if it'll come back to life. None the less, I was not very happy with this tree guy. But one thing good though, he wasn't so off that it hit the house, but pretty darn close!
Well, at least we can take the cost of our 2 trees he killed off the total bill. But I still in need of a burning bush...
