Is it Cold in Here?!?
Well, what a couple of days...
It all started on Friday night when I got home. The house felt kind of cold, but then again, our house is always cold. Wackie tends to keep the temp at about 18 degrees. Anyway, after awhile of sitting and not taking off my jacket, I asked out loud, "Is it kind of cold in here?" So I went to check the thermostat and it read 17 degree. I also saw that it was flashing "Heat" so I assume heat was going to kick in. After another hour, Wackie even started to realize that it was cold in the house, so we went to the thermostat and it read 16 degrees. Brrr. .. turns out, Wackie accidently cut the wire that connected the thermostat to the furnace, while installing a new phone line for the kitchen. So after a few minutes of readjusting and rewiring, the heat finally kicked in. Thank goodness!
Saturday and Sunday, we had dry-waller's come in to drywall our basement which resulted in a lot of dust flying around. So Sunday, we opened our windows to let the dust fly out and air out the place. While doing so, we turned down the thermostat so that we wouldn't waste heat. After them leaving, we went out in search for carpet and went over to friends place for supper and some much needed catching up. When we got home, the house again felt kind of cold. I asked if we turned up the heat after we left? Turns out, our house was back at 16 degrees. Knowing that we did turn up the heat and that it was working, we had to search why our furnace wasn't working. The trouble is, is that the drywallers finished drywalling, so now Wackie had to cut the drywall to see if the wiring came lose. After doing so, and seeing that all the wires were still in tact, and serching for other lose wires, I asked if maybe the batteries were dead. So after a whole lot of stressing out, I changed the batteries and low and behold, the furnace kicked in!!! Dang! Wackie had to repatch his whole he made in the ceiling, but hey, we got heat!
Lesson learned... always check the batteries first before cutting any walls!
