Sleepless In Seattle

Well we made a trip out to Vancouver and Seattle. First Wacky had to get her doctor to approve of her flying seeing she was 32 weeks into the pregnancy and she "could" have the kid early. Good thing Vancouver is only a 1.5 hour flight otherwise this trip would have been vetoed!

First few days were spent in Vancouver and we checked out Granville Island (like we do everytime we come) and we hooked up with some friends we have not seen in a very long time (3+ years!!!) and their new additions to the family. It was great to get together and catch up a bit!

The next three days were spent in Seattle. The trip down was not too bad and we had to wait at the border for about 1.5 hours before getting to Customs. Once we were there, the officer didn't seem to concerned about us and just let us through. Pretty sweet. The wait back to Canada today was 45 minutes...and that was in the slow line! Had we been in the other line, we would have been done in half the time I'm sure! Again, no concerns and she sent us right through!

We could have stayed at the Fairmont Hotel downtown but because I am cheap I had to look for other places to stay. We ended up at the Eighth Ave Inn and once we drove around the area, it looked pretty ghetto. However once we walked around the area it was okay...Pan Pacific Hotel was across the street and it was decent...it was just a bad first impression. The hotel room had two bed and a small washroom, which was fine cuz we really only slept and showered there anyways! The hallways did have a slight odor to it though...

Anyways, the first day we drove down and shopped at the Premium Outlets in Tulalip. Great shopping and Wacky went crazy there. Too many things bought there to mention...highly recommended. The second outlet we went to was the one in Burlington...waste of time. Only a few good stores there.

While in Seattle, we walked around downtown, took in a bit of the Pike Market, Space Needle and the centre, and took the Monorail ($2.00 for a 90 second ride!). Oh if you are looking for FAO SCHWARZ, it's no longer there!!! We went looking for it (we were last there 4 years ago) and could not find it until we asked an information lady and she said they shut down about three years ago.

Ate at the Athenian Inn of Sleepless in Seattle fame. We kinda got there late when they were almost closing so we ordered quickly and chowed down the food just as they were shutting down for the night.

Sleepless in Seattle...that's what Wacky felt like. Not for what the movie was about but more for the bed. Here at my parent's place the bed is pretty hard. In Seattle the bed was okay but it was on a slant which kept her up for most of the night.
